Kentucky Blue Grass is a cool-season type of grass that grows best in cool temperatures during the spring, winter and autumn months. Its growth slows down a bit during the hot, summer months (which means less mowing time in the heat).
When Kentucky Blue Grass is stressed by high temperatures, lack of watering, or a poor quality soil, it becomes susceptible to weed invasion and disease. A more disease resistant Kentucky Blue Grass lawn is often mixed with perennial ryegrass. This ensures the lawn maintains its good colour and health year-round.
